S3 Update

Submitted by stephen on Sat, 2004-08-14 09:46.

By the end of his ninth month Stephen preferred walking to crawling. Let me tell you, that's early. Lots of bonked heads and falling over. He's also quite the climber. He can climb all the way up the stairs to grandma's house! (While supervised of course.)

Three Wheeler Christmas

Submitted by stephen on Sat, 2004-01-10 12:45.

When I was nine I bought my first three wheeler. I know, you're saying, "You mean your daddy bought it." No, I bought it. I did odd jobs and saved my money for over a year. Then I bought a 1984 Honda ATC 70.

A year later I traded it in and bought a 1985 Honda ATC 110.

Smiles and coos

Submitted by stephen on Sat, 2003-12-06 07:56.

Stephen started smiling in late October. Well, he would smile from time to time before this but now he smiles on purpose. It's not just gas anymore. He has also started to coo. It's amazing how all of life's cares seem to fade when your child looks at you, smiles and coos.

I've realized some funny things since being a father.

I never thought I'd be excited to see poop. When you've got a gassy child, you get excited just hearing him fart, poop is icing on the cake.

I see a pattern

Submitted by stephen on Mon, 2003-10-13 23:32.

S3 is beginning to show a pattern. Since we've been home, we've been tracking every feeding (time and duration) and diaper change (stool, urine, both). If you had told me I was going to be interested in this stuff, I wouldn't have believed you.

We're finding that he has a two-three hour period in the evening (between 11PM and 3AM) when he is almost inconsolable. We're trying to move that period to the daytime when we have more energy to deal with it. We decided to feed him every three hours no matter what. This should move his long sleep times from the day to the night and thus move the inconsolable period to the daytime or eliminate it all together. We'll let you know how our plan works.

They're back.

Submitted by stephen on Fri, 2003-10-10 23:11.

Both mommy and S3 are home from the hospital. They were discharged at around 10:00 pm on Oct 10th. S3 is feeding famously and sleeping for 2-3 hours at a time. What a cutey he is. He must be the most beautiful baby in the world! Yeah I know, I'm biased. So let me say that he's the most beautiful baby in our world.

Breached

Submitted by stephen on Mon, 2003-09-01 22:58.

This child is still breach. Glenda is getting pretty uncomfortable. It's getting harder and harder to find a position that she can stay in. Just when she finds the right position, the baby moves and it's no longer comfortable.

We're getting pretty excited to meet this kid though. We've got the room pretty well set up, we're going to be choosing a doctor for the baby in the next week or so.

We're pregnant!

Submitted by stephen on Wed, 2003-08-06 23:30.

In early February, after returning from our Ireland vacation, Glenda and I found out that we are expecting!

In early October we should be awakened by the screams (I mean sweet sounds) of a baby in the house! I know, you just noticed that I'm submitting this in August. You ask, "What took you so long?"

Well, I must admit that we haven't wanted to spread the news until we fealt fairly certain that things where looking good. Glenda and I have been visiting the doctor regularly and have seen the baby in ultrasounds. Wow, it's really amazing.
